Shawnee County COVID-19 indicator drops to lowest score ever

TOPEKA, Kan. – Shawnee County’s COVID-19 indicator dropped to its lowest score ever and sits at the second lowest possible score on the tracking metric.

Shawnee County reported 64 cases of COVID-19 between April 18-April 24, which is a 46% drop from the 120 cases reported on the previous scorecard. The county’s positivity rate sits at 2% and the hospital stress index is at a 1.5 out of 3 possible points.

Cases and the hospital stress index both dropped down to a lower tracking metric. The indicator’s overall score dropped from 4 to 1.

Stormont Vail has 13 COVID-19 patients as of Thursday and 98% capacity in its intensive care unit.
