TOPEKA, Kan. – Downtown Topeka Inc., in partnership with AIM Strategies, will kick off its first Downtown Restaurant Week on April 14. The event will run through April 28 and feature restaurants in downtown Topeka.

While this isn’t the first restaurant week hosted in Topeka, it is the first to focus on businesses downtown. The purpose of the event is to benefit downtown restaurants that suffered financial loss because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Downtown Restaurant Week promises to be a benefit for all,” said Rhiannon Friedman, president of Downtown Topeka Inc., said in a news release. “More people will have the opportunity to try out these fantastic downtown dining establishments and, in doing so, they’ll be able to help inject some much-needed capital into these local businesses that were severely impacted by the pandemic.”

There are 29 restaurants and businesses signed up to participate and all plan to offer specials or discounts on menu items.

Adam VanDonge, The White Linen’s chef and owner, said restaurant week is an opportunity for the community to learn about and support downtown’s restaurants.

Dusty Snethen, co-owner of Brew Bank, said the event will be a great way for people to reintroduce themselves to downtown.

“It’s also a chance for restaurants to say thank you for all the support during such a difficult time,” Snethen said. “This is a chance for restaurants to start making the long climb back from all the setbacks from the previous year and start to celebrate the progress made in downtown Topeka.”

Here is a list of participating restaurants. This list will be updated as more restaurants announce specials:
