TOPEKA, Kan. – An early-morning car fire Thursday in East Topeka has been ruled intentionally set.
Crews were called at 5:47 a.m. to the 200 block of S.E. Kellam on a report of a car on fire.
First-arriving crews found a white Ford Taurus station wagon on fire.
The car was parked on the west side of the street facing south.
The blaze was quickly extinguished.
A Topeka Fire Department investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze, which caused substantial damage to the car.
Topeka police also were called to the scene.
Topeka Fire Marshal Todd Harrison said the blaze has been classified as “incendiary,” or intentionally set.
The fire remained under investigation, Harrison said, and further details weren’t available late Thursday morning.
The location of where the fire occurred was just south of the Shunganunga Creek in East Topeka.
No injuries were reported.
