TOPEKA, Kan. – The Giving Tree is a non-profit thrift store that opened during COVID with a commitment to donate all quarterly profits to other local non-profit organizations.

“COVID has been extremely challenging for so many non-profits, and we are thrilled the community has responded so positively. It’s a dream fulfilled to have The Giving Tree open and serving our community, especially during this difficult time,” stated Lyndsey Adams, founder of The Giving Tree.

The 1st Quarter check presentation totals $18,059.29, benefitting both the Jayhawk Theatre and I Care Food Pantry. The support from The Giving Tree leveraged a total of nearly $58,059 in community donations due to generous matching dollars.

“These funds will help us advance arts and entertainment in Topeka and the NE Kansas region,” Jeff Carson, Jayhawk Theatre board president shared. “I think COVID has provided us all a unique and vivid opportunity to realize how much the arts, culture and live entertainment means to us, and how much we’ve missed it.

John Gonzalez, Jayhawk Theatre board officer, added, “We are grateful to be included as part of this incredible commitment from The Giving Tree. It sets an impressive standard for “Giving Back” and non-profits working together. Especially now, after being closed for over a year, this support and the matching funds received are pivotal in helping us successfully re-open in the next few months.”

“We feel so privileged being one of the recipients of The Giving Tree’s first distribution to non-profits. This gift will go a long way providing services to the food insecure in southeast Topeka/Shawnee County. Thank you Giving Tree!,” Lavina Wall, I Care Food Pantry.

“The community showed their love for The Giving Tree, the Jayhawk Theatre and I Care Food Pantry during one of the most difficult times we’ve all faced,” said Kasi Haines, regional manager of the Owl’s Nest and The Giving Tree.  “We are proud to support these two important non-profit organizations.
