TOPEKA, Kan. – Landry Brewer — the author of “Cold War Kansas,” a book published last August — will give a free program by Zoom at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The presentation by Brewer, a professor at Southwest Oklahoma State University, will include information about how Topeka’s Forbes Air Force Base during the Cold War operated nine intercontinental ballistic missile launch sites, located in a ring of sorts around the base.

To receive the Zoom link to watch the presentation, email the Shawnee County Historical Society at [email protected].

Sunday’s event will be the latest in a series of virtual presentations being put on by the county historical society.
