Kan. man injured in accidental, self inflicted shooting

TOPEKA, Kan.  —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting in Topeka that sent a man to the hospital.

Just after 7a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 600 block of NE Grattan Street in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.

Upon arrival, officers located one adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. American Medical Response transported him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

An investigation determined this to be an accidental self-inflicted incident, according to Spiker.

No other parties are believed to have been involved in this incident. Police released no additional details.
