Kansas football spring rushing analysis and early impressions

TOPEKA, Kan. – Kansas football’s spring practices are in full swing, and one particular position Jayhawk fans should keep their eyes on is running backs.

Last season was a poor one on the ground for Kansas. Losing former leading rusher Pooka Williams early into the conference schedule, a handful of injuries, and the lack of offensive line support weakened the Jayhawks’ rushing attack in 2020.

However, it did expose some young potential and yield some interesting, prospective choices for Kansas to make come fall.

If the Jayhawks can develop a consistent rushing attack, it could be an avenue for Kansas to remain competitive in matchups, which they struggled with severely this past season.

This spring has presented assistant/running backs coach Tony Hull with an opportunity to find a stable rushing rotation, which could work in Kansas’ favor next season.

Here’s a look at some solid rushing candidates at Kansas, and what they could bring to the table following spring ball.
