Local doctor picked for global, publicly traded advisory panel in pursuit of medical advancement

TOPEKA, Kan. – The recently formed six-member physician advisory panel will gather physician input towards Medtronic’s goal of advancing medical technology and biomedical engineering within the gastrointestinal and hepatology specialties. Dr. Shekhar Challa is honored to be amongst the gastroenterologists and hepatologists picked for this role.

As the president and CEO of KMC, Dr. Challa is a board-certified gastroenterologist practicing gastroenterology and hepatology in Topeka, Kansas. Over the past 33 years, he has taken his love of healthcare and used it to grow a conglomerate of successful medical clinics in Kansas and Missouri, as well as a variety of other business endeavors that help people live better lives.

Dr. Shekhar Challa has been the first doctor to bring several innovative gastroenterology procedures to the state of Kansas. Dr. Shekhar Challa was inducted to the Topeka Business Hall of Fame in 2020. He’s the author of several books, most recently Probiotics for Dummies. Dr. Shekhar Challa is the principal investigator for the KMC Research Center which has brought more than 40 clinical research studies in gastroenterology and hepatology with 12 gastroenterology and hepatology studies currently.
