According to the court documents, the 43-year-old woman admitted to intentionally running over two children in an attempt to kill them. She allegedly told prosecutors that she wanted to kill them because of their race. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday on federal hate crime charges. Prosecutors say the woman pleaded guilty in April to the Dec. 9, 2019, attacks in which she intentionally drove into and injured innocent children walking down the street near their schools.

Her name is Nicole Poole Franklin and she ran over a black 12-year-old boy, injuring one of his legs, as he walked on a sidewalk. She later claimed that she thought the boy was of Middle Eastern descent and believed the child was ‘ISIS’ and was going to take her out.

One hour later, the woman struck a 14-year-old Latina girl on a sidewalk. The girl was left with injuries that required her to be hospitalized for two days. The defendant did it because the girl ‘is a Mexican.’

The woman was arrested at a gas station in Iowa. She allegedly admitted to police having intentionally run over her victims because of their skin color.
